Things are moving right along for the upcoming Great Lakes Large Scale Train Expo and we’re EXCITED about it! Well, excited might not describe it, we’re more than just excited. We’re ECSTATIC and THRILLED to announce that the Lakeshore Garden Railway Club, Susquehanna Valley Garden Railway Society, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and Making Trains Fun will be attending our event. Read on to find out more!
The Lakeshore Garden Railway Club will be traveling from Southeast Michigan to attend and set up their impressive operating modular G-gauge layout. The modular layout features a double track mainline along with a central staging yard which allows the club to build and swap out trains without interrupting the action. The club is very dedicated to sharing their passion for G gauge trains as you can find them setting up at multiple other places throughout the year usually. To find out more about this club you may visit their Facebook page HERE.
The Susquehanna Valley Garden Railway Society will be traveling from the central Pennsylvania area to attend. They will be constructing a fully landscaped and operational G-gauge train display. We’re sure everyone will be drawn in as the club has constructed multiple landscaped displays over the years that are just amazing. This will offer many a mesmerizing glimpse into what they could do in their own yard and hopefully inspire them to build (or upgrade) their own garden railroad. To find out more about this club you may visit their website HERE.
Both of these clubs are passionate about g gauge trains and garden railroading. Furthermore they are dedicated to sharing the hobby with the wider community. During the expo don’t be afraid to approach members of either club as they will be more than willing to talk to you and discuss our fascinating hobby. This is a perfect opportunity for families, hobbyists, and train enthusiasts to explore the world of garden railways and perhaps even be inspired to start their own layouts.
The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad which is located about an hour away from the Expo is a nonprofit excursion railroad dedicated to preserving/restoring vintage railcars and locomotives for future generations to enjoy during the multiple excursions they operate year round that take you through the picturesque Cuyahoga Valley National Park. As part of their outreach program they like to attend local shows and events to promote what they do. To achieve that and aid in making it an interactive experience they set up their operating G-gauge display. The display features an auto reversing point to point track which shows you can still have fun with G gauge trains in a limited space. In addition to that they also will have their interactive experience for children setup. Young visitors will have the unique opportunity to learn how to operate a G-gauge train under the guidance of a CVSR volunteer. This hands-on activity is designed to inspire and educate the next generation of G gauge railroad enthusiasts. Learn more about the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad by visiting their website HERE.
Making Trains Fun brings the magic of model railroading to youth with engaging clinics they put on at train shows and conventions. These clinics are designed for children aged 6 to 16, providing a fun interactive hands-on experience that sparks creativity and learning. They will be offering two different clinics during the expo for twice the fun and learning! The first of the two clinics will involve each child receiving their own G gauge flat car and then choosing from a variety of items to build a unique load for their car. Once their creation (which they get to keep) is complete, they get the exciting opportunity to see their flat car run on a track, pulled by a locomotive. The second clinic will feature a wooden building project where children can paint and create their own diorama. Again, they get to keep their creation and take it home making it a memorable and educational experience. You can find out more about their amazing program by visiting their website HERE.
Don’t worry folks, we’ve got plenty more updates on the way including more club displays, clinics, contests and all the vendors that will be there selling G Gauge to 7.5″ Gauge Trains, accessories and more!
